This animation introduces the recruiting video that I created for the College of Education at UNK. Its intent is to gain the attention of 17 and 18-year-olds and recruit them as education majors at UNK. The challenge with this project was keeping the file size small enough that it can be placed on the web. I compressed the images and created the background for this animation using Photoshop. The animation was created in Flash, and the videos were edited in iMovie.
Reflection
Creating this movie was a lot of fun. I got to think about what would make teaching attractive to young people. Building the animation in Flash was challenging and I enjoyed choosing images for it and to think about what it means to be a teacher. It can be hard to capture the attention of young people. It seems like they all want to be entertained. I tried to keep this in mind while I was building the animation. Sometimes teenagers don’t have very long attention spans, which is why I worked to keep this video short and to the point. I learned a lot about Flash while I was creating this project. I shot the movies of the student interviews myself, and edited them to make them short enough to include on the website. I enjoy working with video, but it can be challenging to pick the best clips. I am pretty proud of what I was able to do with this project and feel that it reflects well on my multimedia skills.
