Introduction

These are two of the projects that I completed for a course I took in the summer of 2010 called Teaching Learners to Learn. The first project is about Association and uses the SOAR method to teach students how to make associations in their learning. The second project uses the methods taught in the course to teach a lesson on computer terms. The lesson is fairly simple intended for novice computer users.

Reflection

This class and the projects that I completed for it mainly had an effect on me as a teacher and as a student. As a student I never really learned how to learn and I have found that I can use some of the techniques that were covered in this course to help me study and organize my notes. I found the things I learned useful and plan to use them when I teach so that my students can use them too. You never really think about how you learn but when you learn how to learn you find that there are ways to improve how you go about doing it.

PTE 884: Technology Training

PTE 884 Educational Telecommunications examined the use of electronic on-line resources and other types of telecommunication in education. In this course, curricular integration of a variety of electronic tools was emphasized. I was required to create two websites using Dreamweaver MX to complete this course. The first website was to be used to introduce ourselves to our classmates and the second website was to support an instructional topic of my choice. I choose to use a website I created to support technology training that I provided in a lab to undergraduates.

PTE 810: Electronic Portfolios

In Design and Development of Instruction, I learned the steps involved in the instructional design process. After becoming familiar with the procedure, I was required to use it to create a lesson on the topic of my choice. I worked with a partner and together we developed a unit of instruction regarding the creation of electronic portfolios.

PTE 888, 889, and 867P: Intrapersonal Intelligence Module

Intrapersonal Intelligence Module

This learning module was the culminating on of three of my graduate courses. The primary goal of these courses was to produce a module that explained one of Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligences. While creating this module, I developed and utilized my skills using Adobe Photoshop, Director, Dreamweaver, and Flash to produce an interactive website that described Intrapersonal Intelligence. I worked with a group of 3 other graduate students to determine what material would be covered, how learning would be assessed, and what needed to be done to pull everything together in a format appropriate for the web.
