Student Trainer Projects

While I was Student Trainer at KU’s Computer Center, I taught three workshops to students, faculty, and staff. These workshops were Netscape Composer, Windows for Beginners, and Web Authoring Foundations. I also developed documentation to provide support for using specific features for two of KU’s email systems, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA).  The handouts that I create for the email systems were: Working offline and synchronizing folders in Outlook and Working with Public Folders in OWA.

Reflection

Several of the handouts that I designed were used in workshops that I taught at the computer center.  They were intended to help attendees as I taught the classes and to serve as a reference to the material afterwards.  Participants in these courses came from a variety of backgrounds.  Some of them were college students, other were faculty, and some were staff members. I enjoyed teaching the classes and creating the handouts.  Part of the reason that I wanted to study Instructional Technology in graduate school came as a result of teaching these courses. I learned a lot from my experiences that I was able to apply when I began working as a Software Technician at UNK.
