Studio Betzabeth is a website that I built recently to showcase my photography and artwork. It’s a portfolio of pictures I have taken and various types of artwork that I have created for courses. The site is accompanied by a Flickr page that contains everything that is posted on the site.
I recently finished redesigning the Southwest Iowa Families website. The design that I created in the Fall of 2006 was getting dated and was due to be refreshed. I kept some of the elements of the old site like the logo and some of the content while adding some new elements to make it more interactive. I used WordPress as the backend CMS as that will help make the transition to the new design as smooth as possible. I considered a move to Drupal, but changed my mind as I am more familiar with WordPress and thought it would be easier to teach myself more about Drupal by starting from scratch with a new site. The new things that are in the works for this site are a new Facebook presence, Office 365 integration so that they can have secure email, and fresher content in a new area where they intend to start writing periodic news articles.

I redesigned Ted Kooser’s website from a page that used Flash navigation and wasn’t very accessible. He had to change domains from .com to .net because the tedkooser.com name expired. I was able to get his new site back up to the top result in search engines within a month. Ted Kooser is a poet and essayist, a Presidential Professor of English at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He served as the U. S. Poet Laureate from 2004-2006 and won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for poetry.

This website was created for a non-profit organization called Southwest Iowa Families. The site uses CSS for the layout, and I created a back-end so that the site was easy for the user to update. The company I built the site for exists to provide social and mental health services and supports for families in the areas of Southwest Iowa and Northwest Missouri.
