FAQ: Navigation, system requirements, Flash Movies, and MP3 files.

Navigation

The navigation scheme for this module is fairly simple and provides several ways of getting from one place to another. You can use the caterpillar, cocoon, and butterfly to navigate between sections of the module and the arrows to navigate between individual pages without necessarily having to go to the main pages for each section.

Flash Movies

You encounter several movies and interactive activities that were created in Flash. Many of them are simply part of the webpages that you see while others are on separate pages that open independently and do not link to the rest of the pages in the module. If a movie opens in its own window, it will have a "Close Window" link at the bottom. You will be able to close it by clicking on this link and then will be able to continue through the module. Several of the movies have built in user controls. To control the movie use the buttons at the bottom that look like this:

From left to right, the buttons will reverse, stop, and play (advance) the movies. When you reach the end of the movie the play (advance) button will take you to the next section of the module.

MP3 files

There are two mp3 files that you will listen to while you complete the lessons section of this module. You may find that rather than hearing sound when you click on the link to these files, you see multiple lines of garbled text. Do not be concerned! If you have this problem with the mp3 files, you will need to download them and open them in an mp3 player. To do this:

  1. Right click (Windows) or hold down the control key and click (Macintosh) on the link to the mp3 file.
  2. Wait for a pop-up menu to appear.
  3. Choose Save Link As... (Netscape) or Save Target As... (Internet Explorer) from the menu.
  4. Wait for the file to download (this could take awhile depending on your connection speed) and then open it into your mp3 player.
Return to main menu.
